Ten dead, 25 injured in a major road accident, know more
A major road accident occurred in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, involving workers traveling to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. A pickup truck carrying the workers was hit by a privately-operated bus. The collision resulted in the deaths of ten people and left more than 25 others injured, including several children. The injured have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The accident took place near the village of Salempur on the Bulandshahr-Badaun road. Eyewitnesses reported that both vehicles were speeding, and the crash likely occurred while they were trying to avoid each other. The impact was so severe that the pickup truck was badly damaged, causing immediate fatalities at the scene, with some victims succumbing to their injuries later at the hospital.
Following the incident, chaos ensued, and local residents blocked the road in protest. The police arrived at the scene, took control of the bodies, and began an investigation into the cause of the accident. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences and directed that the injured receive prompt medical attention. The identities of the deceased are being confirmed as the investigation continues.
Bulandshahr DM CP Singh says, "A pickup truck was going from Ghaziabad to Sambal and a bus from Dibai was going towards Bulandshahr when the two vehicles collided in Salempur. 37 people were injured in the accident and 10 out of them have died. The 27 injured are undergoing treatment... CM has taken cognisance of the situation and instructed to make available the best treatment to all the injured... The two vehicles have passed the fitness check...".
