In Durg district, the deaths from swine flu continue unabated. Another life has been lost to the virus—a 32-year-old woman from Dhowar village, near Bhilai, passed away on Friday. She had been receiving treatment at Shankaracharya Medical College for several days.

According to District Surveillance Officer Dr. CBS Banjare, the woman was suffering from cysts in her lungs and other parts of her body. Her family admitted her to the medical college due to her worsening condition, which included a sore throat and difficulty breathing. A swine flu test was conducted, and the results came back positive. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the illness during treatment.

With this latest case, the district has now recorded its seventh death from swine flu. Previously, on September 15, a 62-year-old man from Steel City Risali died while undergoing treatment at B.M. Shah Hospital in Bhilai. Currently, six more swine flu patients are hospitalized in Raipur and Durg. Among them, two are at AIIMS Raipur, while one each is being treated at Sector-9 Durg, Shankaracharya, B.M. Shah, and Pulse hospitals. Since August 10, a total of 36 swine flu cases have been reported in the district, with 23 patients having recovered and seven fatalities recorded.
