State assembly passes resolution against NEET, setback to BJP
West Bengal Legislative Assembly passes resolution against NEET. The resolution urges upon the Government of West Bengal to conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for ensuring a robust public health care system across the State particularly in the far-fledged rural areas and in public interest at large.
The JEE was the method of holding examinations to medical colleges earlier before the NEET.
On Tuesday, the ruling Trinamool Congress introduced a resolution in the West Bengal Assembly addressing alleged irregularities in NEET, Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay announced. This decision was made during a meeting of the business advisory committee.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also announced that the state government will propose a resolution against both NEET and the recently implemented criminal laws in the upcoming Legislative Assembly session.
Expressing concerns about the new criminal laws enacted on July 1, Banerjee stated, “The new criminal laws raise serious concerns. Even doctors and journalists are apprehensive about them. Our freedoms are at risk. Without concrete evidence, anyone can become a target of these laws.
