After defeat in Odisha state election, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has gone on to appoint state-level

After defeat in Odisha state election, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has gone on to appoint state-level and national-level spokespersons. As many as 14 leaders including Prasanna Acharya, Pramila Mallick and Debi Mishra have been appointed as state-level spokespersons; Santrupt Misra, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo appointed as national spokespersons. Santrupt Misra appointed as political secretary to Naveen Patnaik. The party also dissolved its state-level office bearers.

Meanwhile, since losing power to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on June 4 after a continuous rule of 24 years, leaders of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha have maintained a conspicuous silence. There has been no statement from BJD president Naveen Patnaik or other party leaders regarding their plans for the future.

The BJD's significant setback in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections has left the party in a state of uncertainty. From securing 12 Lok Sabha seats in 2019, the party failed to win any this time, and its representation in the Odisha Legislative Assembly plummeted from 115 seats to 51.
