Special Trains to Facilitate Pilgrims’ Travel for Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, Heres List

Prayagraj, January 2025 – To provide convenience and a comfortable journey for pilgrims visiting the Sangam during the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela, five special trains are being operated by South Railway through Gondia, Balaghat, and Nainpur routes. The main aim of these trains is to ensure that passengers have access to confirmed seats during their journey.

Additionally, the South East Central Railway is running three special trains during the Maha Kumbh, connecting Raigarh, Durg, and Bilaspur to Varanasi. These trains will operate in three rounds, offering services under the names:

Raigarh-Varanasi-Raigarh Kumbh Mela Special (08251/08252)

Durg-Varanasi-Durg Kumbh Mela Special (08791/08792)

Bilaspur-Varanasi-Bilaspur Kumbh Mela Special (08253/08254)

These trains will run via Bilaspur, Katni, and Prayagraj, with prior announcements already made by the railway authorities.

Special Trains from Vishakhapatnam

Vishakhapatnam will also see special trains for the Kumbh Mela, stopping at key stations across the South East Central Railway network, including Raipur, Bilaspur, Uslapur, Raigarh, Champa, Pendraroad, Anuppur, Shahdol, and Umaria.

The special trains from Vishakhapatnam include: Vishakhapatnam–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay–Vishakhapatnam Special (08530/08529) Vishakhapatnam–Gorakhpur–Vishakhapatnam Special (08562/08561)

Massive Railway Operations for Kumbh

In total, over 13,000 trains will be operated by the Indian Railways during the Maha Kumbh, including 3,000 special trains, to cater to the large influx of pilgrims. These efforts aim to streamline travel and ensure that the journey to the holy event is as smooth and hassle-free as possible for all participants.
