Six Maoists neutralized, two security personnel injured, encounter with naxals in Telangana
Six Maoists were killed and two security personnel were injured in an encounter with police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, on Thursday. According to sources, one of the injured personnel is in critical condition and receiving treatment.
Bhadradri Kothagudem District Superintendent Rohit Raj confirmed the clash, stating, "An encounter took place this morning between the police and Maoists in the district." Earlier, on Wednesday, the bodies of nine Naxals who were killed in a separate encounter with security forces were taken to the mortuary at Dantewada District Hospital in Chhattisgarh. These Naxals had been killed in a firefight in the Dantewada-Bijapur forest on Tuesday. Dantewada SP Gaurav Rai reported that a significant number of rifles were recovered from the Naxals, and all security personnel involved in the operation were safe.
Following the encounter, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the bravery of the soldiers and highlighted the BJP's ongoing fight against Naxalism. He expressed confidence that the issue would soon be resolved. Earlier this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that left-wing extremism would be eradicated from India by March 2026, noting that the fight against extremism is in its final phase under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
The encounter on Thursday occurred in the Neeladrigutta forest area of Karakagudem mandal, a known Naxalite stronghold. The firefight erupted when a police team was conducting a combing operation in the forest. Among the deceased Maoists was Lachanna, the leader of the Lachanna group of CPI Maoists. Lachanna, who recently relocated from Chhattisgarh, was the secretary of the Manuguru Area Committee. One Greyhounds constable was also seriously injured in the clash.
