Raipur: Chhattisgarh is currently experiencing an intense cold wave, with temperatures plummeting across the state. The Meteorological Department has predicted persistent cold weather in January, with a slight respite expected in February.

The activation of a western disturbance could bring colder conditions coupled with rainfall, intensifying the winter chill.

Cold Wave and Dense Fog Warning

The Raipur Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours, warning of a cold day and dense fog in 10 districts: Durg Bemetara Kabirdham Mungeli Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi Korea Surajpur Balrampur Surguja Jashpur.

Residents in these districts are advised to prepare for bone-chilling cold and take precautions to stay warm.

Current Weather Conditions

In the last 24 hours, there has been no significant change in minimum temperatures across the state. However, cold winds were reported at isolated places in Surguja, Bilaspur, and Durg divisions.

The lowest minimum temperature of 3.7°C was recorded in Balrampur, while the highest maximum temperature of 30°C was observed in Sukma.

Forecast for the Next 24 Hours

Temperature Trends: Minimum temperatures are expected to remain steady, with a gradual increase of 2-3°C over the next few days.

Cold Wave Areas: Durg, Ambikapur, and Bilaspur divisions are expected to experience below-normal minimum temperatures.
