Rajnandgaon: In a swift and effective operation, the police in Chichola, under Rajnandgaon district, cracked a sensational murder and robbery case in just six hours. The incident, which occurred in the village of Amlidih, involved the brutal murder of a local villager by a young man from the same village. A key player in the investigation was "Dular," a Belgian Shepherd dog from the police's dog squad, whose sharp instincts proved invaluable in solving the crime.

The case unfolded on November 16, when Narottam Sahu, while searching for a laborer working in the fields, visited the home of Ramkumar Sahu, a fellow villager. To his shock, he discovered Ramkumar’s blood-soaked body lying on the floor. Narottam alerted the villagers and subsequently informed the police. Upon reaching the crime scene, the police registered the case as a suspicious death and launched an investigation into what appeared to be a blind murder.

The police were initially puzzled—why would anyone murder a simple laborer? Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Rajnandgaon Superintendent of Police dispatched a team comprising forensic experts and the dog squad to the scene.

During the investigation, the police dog "Dular" played a pivotal role. Dular led the team directly to the house of Sajwant Chandrawanshi, a young villager. However, Sajwant had fled his home before the police arrived. Undeterred, Dular guided the officers to Sajwant’s bed, signaling his involvement. Acting on this lead, the cyber cell and police teams cordoned off the nearby fields and successfully apprehended Sajwant.

During interrogation, Sajwant confessed to the crime. He revealed that on the night of November 15, around 11:30 PM, he broke into Ramkumar's house intending to steal. When Ramkumar woke up and raised an alarm, Sajwant, fearing capture, attacked him with a hatchet, hoe, and a blade, killing him on the spot. Sajwant then stole ₹2,550 in cash and discarded the weapons in a nearby pond.

The police have registered a case of murder and robbery against Sajwant Chandrawanshi. After being presented in court, he has been placed under judicial custody.

This rapid and decisive action by the police has brought relief to the villagers, highlighting the effectiveness of their investigative approach and the significant contribution of the dog squad in solving complex cases.
