A devastating fire engulfed a school bus in Bangkok, resulting in the tragic death of over 25 children. Although rescue teams managed to save 16 children, their condition remains critical. At the time of the incident, there were 44 children onboard.

According to reports, the school bus was returning from a field trip in the Khukhot area of Bangkok. Suddenly, the bus caught fire, and within moments, flames spread throughout the vehicle. Tragically, at least 25 children perished in the blaze, while rescuers struggled to save the remaining passengers. The 16 rescued children have been hospitalized, and their condition is serious. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, though some eyewitnesses suggest that a tire burst might have triggered the blaze.

The incident occurred around 12 PM on Tuesday, with children aged between 3 and 15 on board, along with five teachers. The bus, which was transporting students from Uthai Thani province, caught fire after a tire burst on a highway in a northern suburb of Bangkok. The crash, which involved the bus hitting a barrier, reportedly ignited its fuel tanks, causing the massive fire.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the families of the victims. The transport minister, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, stated that the exact number of fatalities is yet to be confirmed, but 25 individuals remain unaccounted for.

Video footage from the scene shows the bus consumed by flames under an overpass, with dense black smoke billowing into the sky. Rescue teams have managed to extinguish the fire but are awaiting the cooling of the bus before continuing their search for bodies.

Thailand is known for having one of the worst road safety records in the world, with frequent accidents caused by unsafe vehicles and poor driving practices.
