After yet another major terror attack, there is widespread concern in Russia. The country suffered major terror attack in Dagestan region of country. Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of ensuring the right to freedom of religion, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry G.I. Askaldovich in connection with the terrorist attack in the Republic of Dagestan, stated that on June 23, terrorists once again brazenly attacked Russia and that their targets were churches and synagogues in the cities of Makhachkala and Derbent.

“With their bloody attack, these monsters hoped to sow discord in the interreligious harmony in this region, to spoil one of the brightest Orthodox holidays – the Day of the Holy Trinity. These creators of chaos did not pursue any constructive goals, they sought only to destroy”, he said.

“In their path stood citizens who, by their example, by their sacrifice, proved that the terrorists would not succeed, they would achieve nothing and would shamefully disappear into oblivion. The priest of the Russian Church, the rector of the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in Derbent, Father Nikolai, who was and will remain in history a true symbol of interfaith peace, as well as law enforcement officers and civilians, were killed.
We express our deep condolences and sympathy to the families and friends of these people, as well as to all those injured during the attack. There can be no justification for terrorism. Whoever is behind the scenes of these events should know that our country and its citizens are ready to resist the attempts of extremists of any stripe to break it, bring it to its knees and make it afraid. We have no doubt that all accomplices of this bloody act will be identified and will answer before the law. Together with like-minded foreign partners, Russia will continue to fight international terrorism until it is completely eradicated. It is important not only to destroy it physically, but also to nip it in the bud, continuing to carry out appropriate preventive work both within the country and in coordination with partners”, reads the statement issued from office of Ambassador-at-Large, G.I. Askaldovich.
