Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has expressed strong disapproval of the content being disseminated on OTT platforms, condemning it for promoting "distorted propaganda" and "poor values" that adversely affect the youth. Speaking at the annual Vijaya Dashami rally in Nagpur, Bhagwat stated, “The distorted propaganda and poor values propagated by various institutions are negatively influencing the minds and behaviors of the younger generation in Bharat.”

Bhagwat highlighted the unrestricted access children have to unfiltered content through mobile phones, raising concerns about the type of material they are exposed to. “Mobile phones are now in the hands of children, with little control over what they are watching,” he remarked. He characterized the content on OTT platforms as “disgusting” and a breach of decency, advocating for a legal framework to regulate such material. “There is an urgent need for legal oversight on advertisements and inappropriate visual content in our homes and society,” he asserted.

The RSS also voiced concerns on social media, emphasizing the lack of regulation on OTT platforms. They stated, “A lot of content is so disgusting that even mentioning it would violate decency. There is an urgent need for laws governing the perverted visual content reaching our homes, especially for children.”

Bhagwat drew a connection between the content on OTT platforms and the deterioration of cultural values, citing the increase in drug addiction among youth as a further indication of societal decay. He referenced the recent rape and murder case of a woman at R G Kar Hospital in Kolkata to illustrate the pressing issue of women's safety, condemning those who allegedly protect the criminals involved. “The shameful efforts made to shield criminals after such heinous acts reveal the damaging nexus between crime, politics, and toxic culture,” Bhagwat remarked.

He reinforced the traditional view of women as "Maatrivat Paradaareshu," a value passed down through generations, warning that neglecting these values—both in families and the media—can have dire consequences. “We need to revive the practice of instilling these traditional values through family, society, and media,” he stressed.

Additionally, Bhagwat emphasized the importance of value education, asserting that while the National Education Policy has acknowledged its necessity, the effectiveness of such education depends on teachers setting a proper example. He urged social media users to leverage these platforms to unite society and promote values rather than contribute to its fragmentation.

Bhagwat concluded by stating that the foundational character of children is formed between the ages of 3 to 12, primarily through home education and the behavior of elders. He emphasized the importance of nurturing qualities such as self-esteem, patriotism, morality, and a sense of duty during this formative period, urging parents and communities to take responsibility in shaping the future generation.
