Record-Breaking Donations and Wealth Found at Sri Sanwaliya Seth Temple in Rajasthan
Chittorgarh News: In a historic event at the renowned Sri Sanwaliya Seth Temple in Rajasthan, the sixth phase of the treasure counting concluded on Friday, revealing an extraordinary amount of donations. The treasure chest, opened after two months, yielded a total of ₹34 crore 91 lakh 95 thousand, over 2.5 kilograms of gold, and approximately 188 kilograms of silver—setting a new record for the temple.
This two-month-long counting process, which began on November 30, marked an unprecedented gathering of wealth for the temple. In addition to the ₹25 crore 61 lakh 67 thousand in cash, ₹9 crore 30 lakh 27 thousand came from online donations and the temple's donation box. The treasure also included 2.29 kilograms of gold and 58.9 kilograms of silver from the treasure chest, and 280 grams of gold and 129 kilograms of silver from the donation hall.
A Historic Surge in Donations
For the first time, a record-breaking ₹35 crore in cash was collected, surpassing previous years by a significant margin. Last year, after the Diwali festival, the temple’s treasure chest contained ₹13 crore 86 lakh. This year's figures, however, have tripled, reflecting a massive increase in generosity from devotees.
The counting process took a total of six days due to the volume of donations, with each phase revealing a larger sum. In the first phase, ₹11 crore 34 lakh 75 thousand were counted, followed by ₹3 crore 60 lakh in the second phase, ₹4 crore 27 lakh 80 thousand in the third phase, ₹2 crore 73 lakh 90 thousand in the fourth phase, and ₹3 crore 51 lakh 29 thousand 500 in the fifth phase.
The total accumulated over the six phases reached a monumental ₹35 crore. The gold and silver offerings also exceeded expectations, with 2.5 kilograms of gold and 127 kilograms of silver being counted as part of the donations.
A Record for the Temple and Its Trust
The Sanwaliya Seth Temple holds its treasure counting every month, but this time, the two-month tally has broken all previous records. The temple trustees had already speculated that the total would reach around ₹35 crore, and their estimates proved accurate.
The treasure chest was not opened during the Diwali season in the previous month, a delay that resulted in the counting being conducted in early December. Security at the temple has been heightened as the newly counted cash and valuables have been stored in sacks under strict surveillance.
The temple trust has also shared that, unlike previous years, this year’s donations have significantly outpaced past collections, which is attributed to the growing faith and devotion of the temple's followers. Sri Sanwaliya Seth Temple, known for its spiritual significance and immense wealth, continues to attract devotees from across the country, and the latest treasure count has reaffirmed its place as one of the wealthiest temples in the region.
