Ranveer Allahbadia's YouTube channel hacked, videos deleted, took some time to restore content
Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, has recently experienced a cyber attack that resulted in hackers gaining control of both of his YouTube channels. The hackers renamed the channels to "@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024" and "@Tesla.event.trump_2024" before deleting all existing videos. This incident follows a similar attack on the Supreme Court's YouTube channel just weeks prior.
After removing his podcasts and interviews, the attackers uploaded old livestreams featuring Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Although the channels are no longer searchable on YouTube, the platform displayed a notification indicating that they were taken down for violating company policies, stating, "This page isn't available. Sorry about that. Try searching for something else."
At the time of the attack, Allahbadia was in Singapore, and he acknowledged the hacking nearly a day later. In a light-hearted response, he shared a photo of his meal on Instagram, humorously stating that he was "celebrating" the cyber attack.
Allahbadia revealed on Instagram that the hackers had taken over his channels, renaming BeerBiceps to "@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024" and his personal channel to "@Tesla.event.trump_2024." Most of his interviews and podcasts were deleted, replaced by streams of past events featuring the tech mogul and the presidential candidate. After the breach, YouTube initially removed the hacked channels, leading users to a "404 not found" page.
Despite being in Mumbai when he confirmed the hacking, Allahbadia has not issued an official statement. Instead, he addressed the situation indirectly by posting a photo of his meal, saying, "Celebrating my two main channels being hacked with my favourite food. Vegan burgers. Death of BeerBiceps met with Death of diet." He also shared a selfie with an eye mask, jokingly asking, "Is this the end of my YouTube career? Was nice knowing you all."
Ranveer Allahbadia began his content creation journey at 22 with the launch of BeerBiceps, which has since expanded into seven YouTube channels with a combined following of around 12 million subscribers. He has interviewed numerous prominent figures across various genres, including Bollywood, entrepreneurship, history, and science.
The hacking incident occurred around 11:30 PM on September 25. Following the attack, both channels were initially deleted, but they have now been restored, with all videos accessible again. However, the "Home" section still displays the message, "This channel doesn’t have any content," despite the restored videos being available elsewhere. The "Ranveer Allahbadia" channel has regained its username and features 111 videos, while the "BeerBiceps" channel now has 280 videos, reflecting Allahbadia's journey from fitness content to a diverse array of topics.
Just hours after the cyberattack, both channels have been restored, and all content is now accessible. However, the 'Home' section of each channel shows a message that says, 'This channel doesn’t have any content,' despite the videos being available in other areas.
