Ram Madhav likely new Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, multiple other Governors could be replaced
The central government may soon implement changes among the governors of states including Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Madhya Pradesh. These changes could occur by the end of October or November and will consider names of individuals who have served for 3 to 5 years.
According to a report from an English newspaper, this shift is significant as many governors and lieutenant governors have been in their roles for an extended period. This includes governors from Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu. Notably, Jammu and Kashmir has recently seen the establishment of a new state government.
Speculation suggests that former BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav may be appointed as the new lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, replacing Manoj Sinha. Additionally, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan is also being considered for a new role. The lieutenant governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Devendra Kumar, who has been in office since October 2017, might be reassigned to responsibilities in Kerala or Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources indicate that changes could occur following the formation of new governments in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, or after the assembly elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. Moreover, senior BJP leaders, such as Ashwini Choubey, VK Singh, and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who are distancing themselves from the Lok Sabha elections, could also be appointed as governors or lieutenant governors.
