Raipur IG Amresh Mishra cracks down, sacks TI Rakesh Choubey
Raipur Range IG Amresh Mishra has dismissed TI Rakesh Choubey for entering a girls' hostel while intoxicated and threatening a female staff member. Choubey faced charges under IPC Sections 451, 294, 323 (twice), 506 B, 354 A, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, with a case registered at the Ajak police station (Crime No. 04/2023).
The court found him guilty and imposed a sentence, which prompted the IG level police officer to take action. Consequently, on Thursday, Choubey was dismissed from service under the Civil Service (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules 1996 and police regulations. It is worth noting that a video recently went viral showing Choubey threatening a constable in the police line, where he used derogatory language against a DSP. Following this, the constable filed a complaint against TI Rakesh Choubey at the Kotwali police station.
