Rain lashes Delhi-NCR region, air quality improves, haze disappears

As Delhi witnessed sudden change in weather and received light rain, the residents found some relief from hazardous air quality. Air Quality Index improves after rain lashes Delhi-NCR.  

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai says “A positive impact of rainfall has been noticed on the AQI level. There has been an improvement in the AQI index…We are going to put forward to the Supreme Court our studies on the implementation of the Odd-Even scheme and the need for artificial rainfall to control pollution in Delhi…”

Delhi government is in touch with experts from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur to help facilitate a detailed plan for artificial rain in the capital as Delhi‘s overall air quality continues to remain in the ‘severe’ category.
