The meteorological department has hoisted a cyclone warning dome (signal 2) in Nagapattinam Port. The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclone on Monday evening and the cyclone is named as ‘Hamoon‘.
It is learnt that the cyclonic storm Hamoon intensifies into a severe Cyclone, but no major impact is expected in Odisha, as it crosses the state’s coast from a distance of about 200 km. This as per information from the Met Department.
Indian Met Department has predicted heavy rainfall in West Bengal, Manipur and Mizoram. The storm is likely to make a landfall by Oct 25 on the Bangladesh coastline between Khepupara and Chittagong. It is learnt that the storm may transform into deep depression by then.
