Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, left Delhi to visit Manipur. Gandhi is scheduled to meet local party leaders but also visit relief camps and interact with victims.

Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit to Manipur marks his third visit to the state since ethnic violence erupted in May last year. His itinerary includes visits to various relief camps where he will engage with those affected by the violence. This visit underscores his commitment to providing support and empathy to the affected communities.

This visit follows Rahul Gandhi's recent leadership of the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha, where he criticized the Prime Minister for not addressing the situation in Manipur. Scheduled for today, Rahul Gandhi will fly from the national capital to Silchar, proceeding to Jiribam district, where recent violence occurred in early June, as confirmed by Manipur Congress chief K. Meghachandra.

During his visit, Rahul Gandhi plans to assess the ground reality and verify claims of normalcy made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will visit relief camps in Jiribam and Churachandpur districts before traveling to Moirang in Bishnupur district to meet with more affected individuals. Upon returning to Imphal, discussions with Governor Anusuiya Uikey and meetings with local leaders are also on his agenda.

Notably, this visit reflects Rahul Gandhi's ongoing engagement with Manipur, having previously visited in June 2023 and earlier in the year for the launch of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
