Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova outlines conditions for meaningful peace negotiations to end the Ukraine conflict, including troop withdrawals, NATO

Amid the speculations of yet another peace summit that might soon be organized to end Ukraine conflict and attempts will be made to involve Russia this time, the Russian Foreign Ministry has clarified its stance.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has clearly stated the conditions that need to be fulfiled for the peace negotiations to move forward in a meaningful way.

Among the conditions she laid down includes, withdrawal of Ukrainian armed units from new Russian regions, Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions, Kiev’s refusal from NATO membership, cancellation of all Western sanctions against Russia and ensuring the rights of Ukraine’s Russian-speaking citizens.

"...it was about putting an end to the conflict, rather than about freezing it in order to rearm the Kiev regime. No doubt the initiative put forward by the President of Russia will remain a universal and long-term recipe for resolving the Ukraine conflict because it contains a way of eliminating its root causes", she said, signifying that Russia is not desperate but assesses itself to be in control of the conflict.
