On Sunday, Hindu and Sikh activists gathered outside the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi to protest the recent attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada, allegedly carried out by a pro-Khalistan group. The demonstration, led by the Hindu Sikh Global Forum, drew significant attention as protesters rallied against the assault, which took place on November 4.

In response to calls for a protest from various Hindu organizations, Delhi Police implemented heightened security measures in the Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave, where the Canadian High Commission is located. Numerous police personnel were stationed around the mission, and multiple layers of barricades were erected to ensure order.

During the protest, several activists attempted to scale and topple the barricades while chanting slogans and holding placards with messages such as "Indians and Sikhs are united" and "Indians will not tolerate the insult of temples in Canada." Their actions highlighted growing frustrations over recent incidents targeting Hindu and Indian symbols in Canada.

The demonstration followed reports of pro-Khalistan supporters in Brampton attacking Hindu devotees outside the temple. This incident has prompted widespread condemnation from Indian officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who denounced the "deliberate attack" and the "cowardly attempts to intimidate" Indian diplomats and communities abroad.

The backlash against pro-Khalistan activities has intensified, with protests erupting not only in Brampton but also in Mississauga, Canada. Additionally, a Canadian police officer, Harinder Sohi, was suspended after participating in a pro-Khalistan rally where anti-India slogans were chanted.

In connection with the Brampton incident, Canadian authorities have made several arrests, including that of Inderjeet Gosal, a prominent operative for Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a banned organization in India. Gosal, known for his association with the slain Khalistani figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar, faces charges of assault with a weapon.

The incident and subsequent protests reflect the ongoing tensions surrounding Khalistani activism and its impact on Indian communities in Canada, prompting a strong response from Indian activists and authorities alike.
