Protest Erupts After Fatal Accident in Tilda-Neora, police department acts against own official
In Raipur’s Tilda-Neora area, a fatal road accident late last night led to unrest as residents set fire to vehicles and gathered outside the local police station, a protest that continued past midnight. The incident occurred near Sarathi Traders on Kota Road, where a motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a parked truck following an earlier car accident. The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Rahul Sahu from Neora Basti.
Following the incident, over 300 villagers, including the victim’s family, arrived at the scene and began protesting. In the midst of the chaos, residents set a vehicle parked outside the garage on fire. The crowd later gathered outside the Tilda police station, blocking the road in protest.
The driver involved in the accident surrendered at the police station. The villagers accused the police of inaction, claiming they had previously reported trucks parked irresponsibly in front of Sarathi Traders’ garage, but no action was taken. As tensions escalated, police attached the officer in charge (TI) to the line in response to the situation.
