The dog of the president of Moldova, Maia Sandu, bit the president of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, when he wanted to pet it.

It was during an official visit by Austria‘s president to Moldova when the country’s “first dog” nipped him and the visuals then went viral online.

The dog, a rescue Codrut , may have become frightened by the number of people nearby is the explanation offered by President Sandu with apology in English.

 But the fiasco did not spoil the head of state relations and Austrian leader confirmed having had good meeting with his Moldovian counterparts.
