With four days to go for first phase voting in poll bound Chhattisgarh, Rahul Gandhi confidante KC Venugopal made a sudden visit to Raipur to hold meeting with senior most party leadership of the state.
The issue of rebel candidates, other parties in the fray, impact of the poll promises thus far were deliberated in the meeting. Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh, Kumari Selja, who is Chhattisgarh Congress incharge but also CM Bhupesh Baghel, state party chief Deepak Baij were in the meeting.
It need be mentioned that Congress has high hopes from lucrative poll promises like free electricity upto 200 units, subsidy on gas cylinder, free KG to PG education in government institutions and caste census among others.
BJP is also fielding its top campaigners in the fray as PM Modi is to visit the poll bound state to announce poll promises for saffron party but the very popular Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are also to campaign for the party to woo voters.
BJP is likely to field Yogi Adityanath in Kawardha and Pandaria, both of the constituencies where communal flare ups were reported many months back. He is also likely to campaign for the party in tribal dominated Sukma and Bastar, where forced conversion is a big issue or so the BJP says.
