As nomination for first phase voting in Chhattisgarh begins today, many are wondering why the ruling Congress has not even announced candidates on the 20 seats.
This as Congress Election Committee met on Thursday evening in the presence of Kumari Selja, the Chhattisgarh Congress incharge, CM Bhupesh Baghel and Deputy CM TS Singhdeo as well as state Congress chief Deepak Baij.
But since the candidates for first phase voting also could not be announced, the many political analysts are guessing if the party is fearful of rebellion once the list is out and thus wants to wait till the last date of nomination nears.
Meanwhile. Congress sources said that on Thursday, the candidates for Mizoram and Chhattisgarh were considered and on Friday, the candidature for Madhya Pradesh and Telangana will be decided.
It is likely that Congress announces candidates for first phase seats in Chhattisgarh in a day or two.
