Politics continues over rape, high-level committee formed, says Faizabad MP

Faizabad (Ayodhya) MP Awadhesh Prasad has commented again on the Ayodhya gang rape case, saying, "This incident is extremely shameful. The Samajwadi Party stands firmly with the victim. The accused should receive the strictest punishment, including the death penalty. The party has formed a high-level committee and has asked it to submit its report as soon as possible. Actions will be taken based on the report. The Samajwadi Party demands that the government provide security to the victim and her family and grant them ₹20 lakh".

Escalating the ongoing controversy over what has become a political hot potato, a three-member delegation of BJP leaders visited the 12-year-old alleged rape survivor from Ayodhya and her family on Sunday. This visit came a day after authorities demolished a bakery owned by the main accused in the case, Moid Khan, who is reportedly affiliated with the Samajwadi Party.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders have asserted that Moid Khan is linked to the newly elected Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad from Faizabad.

The BJP delegation urged the state government to increase the compensation for the alleged rape victim and assured the family that both the Narendra Modi-led central government and the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP administration in Uttar Pradesh are committed to taking strong action against the perpetrators.

Rajya Sabha MP Baburam Nishad, a member of the BJP delegation, stated that the issue would be raised in the Upper House of Parliament. "We have thoroughly investigated the matter and will report our findings to our central leadership in New Delhi. Additionally, I will highlight in the Rajya Sabha the leaders who hold such a mindset," Nishad told reporters following the meeting with the family.
