The impact of the "Bharat Bandh" in Bihar on Wednesday, August 21, was at best mixed. In the capital city, Patna, the police resorted to a lathi-charge at the Dak Bungalow intersection during the protests. The police also used water cannons to control the situation. Amidst the commotion, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Shrikant Khandekar, who was in civilian attire, was mistakenly hit by a policeman's baton, as the police constable did not realise he was an SDO and mistook him for a protester.

But on the other hand, Shops at the Dak Bungalow intersection remained closed, and even those that were open had to shut down during the protests. Patna's District Magistrate (DM) had already issued instructions that any form of disorder would not be tolerated, warning that those who attempted to disrupt traffic or public order would face strict action, including FIRs and other severe measures.

Several schools in Patna decided to remain closed, issuing notifications on Tuesday night in light of the protests. However, some schools that were open on Wednesday decided to close early due to the bandh.

The Bharat Bandh was called by Dalit organizations in protest against the Supreme Court's decision to apply the creamy layer criteria to SC reservations. Trains were stopped in Madhubani and Arrah, and incidents of arson were reported from various districts. The Bharat Bandh also coincided with the Bihar Police constable recruitment examination, leading to reports of candidates facing difficulties in reaching their examination centers.
