Police lines up illicit liquor bottles for destruction, crowd suddenly appears on scene, manages to grab some, watch
In Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, a chaotic scene unfolded on Monday when a group of individuals attempted to steal liquor bottles that were intended to be destroyed by the police. The police had arranged the seized bottles on the road, planning to crush them with a road-roller. However, as they were preparing for the destruction, a crowd suddenly descended upon the scene and tried to make off with some of the bottles.
Initially caught off guard, the police quickly responded, chasing down the individuals and recovering the stolen bottles before proceeding with their destruction. The incident occurred at a dumping yard on Etukuru Road, about 40 kilometers from the state capital, Amaravati. The seized liquor, valued at ₹50 lakh, had been confiscated from various raids.
The event, which has been widely shared on social media, highlights the difficulties faced by law enforcement in managing the disposal of illicit items in public spaces. The video of the incident captures the chaotic rush of people grabbing bottles and fleeing, while police officers attempted to restore order without using force. The situation underscores the challenges of controlling such operations and the need for enhanced security measures in similar future events. Further details on the repercussions for those involved are yet to be announced.
