Police intercepts consignment of silver, nabs one suspect, on way to Odisha

Police arrest a silver smuggler in Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, seizing 29 kg of silver bars valued at ₹28.33 lakh. Authorities also uncover 2,240 kg of poppy straw and apprehend two individuals with ₹22 lakh in cash during routine inspections.

In Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh, police have arrested a suspect involved in silver smuggling. The individual was found in possession of 29 kilograms and 210 grams of silver bars, valued at approximately ₹28,33,000. The suspect was traveling on a bus from Odisha to Raipur when police apprehended him during a routine check. He could not provide any legal documentation regarding the silver, leading to his arrest. This incident occurred in the Singhora police station area.

On Monday, police also investigated a truck that was abandoned on the side of the national highway. During the search, they discovered 2,240 kilograms of poppy straw hidden beneath sacks of Murrah, valued at ₹22,40,000. This case is also under the jurisdiction of the Singhora police station.

Recently, police in Mahasamund arrested two individuals carrying ₹22 lakh in cash. They were en route from Odisha to Mahasamund when they were intercepted during a routine check. The cash was seized after the suspects failed to provide any documentation to justify its possession.
