Pile of soil dumped on railway track, alert loco pilot averts mishap, probe launched
A vigilant loco pilot averted a potential disaster on Sunday evening when the Raghuraj Singh shuttle train (number 04251) was temporarily halted after the pilot noticed a pile of soil dumped on the railway track in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred around 7:55 PM, raising concerns about a possible attempt to derail the train.
Officials have launched an investigation, suspecting foul play, as train accidents have been on the rise. The soil was removed, and rail traffic resumed safely. Eyewitnesses claimed that a dumper involved in soil-filling work on the nearby Ganga Expressway dumped the soil on the track before fleeing. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the incident.
In a related event, just a day earlier, the driver of the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Intercity Superfast Express narrowly avoided a collision after spotting a car moving on the tracks. The car had veered onto the railway line after its driver attempted to beat a closing gate at a railway crossing. Emergency brakes were applied in time, preventing a major accident. A crane was used to remove the vehicle from the tracks.
These incidents have prompted officials to heighten investigations into railway safety measures across the country.
