Petitions challenging electoral bond, referred to Constitution Bench, hearing to begin from Oct 30

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has referred to the five judge Constitution bench, the petitions challenging the electoral bond scheme for funding of political parties.

The hearing to these petitions will begin from Oct 30 in the five judge Constitution bench of India’s top court.

”In view of importance of issue raised, and with regard to article 145 (4) of the Constitution of India, the matter be placed before a bench of at least five judges. The matter will be retained on Oct 30,2023,”, said Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, as per Bar and Bench.
