Parliamentarian breaths his last, days after consuming pesticide

A Parliamentarian from Erode in Tamil Nadu, A. Ganeshamoorthy, who is said to have attempted suicide on Sunday by consuming some pesticide, breathed his last on Thursday morning.

There were reports that he was upset at being denied election ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The 76-year-old was elected on a DMK ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Erode, and developed uneasiness and vomited on March 24 after consuming pesticide.

While Ganeshamoorthy was rushed to a hospital in Erode by his family, he was later moved to a private hospital in Coimbatore.

It is now said that his body was not responding to the treatments and thus he passed away on Thursday morning around 5.05 am.

Party sources said the body would be taken to his residence at Periyar Nagar in Erode and would be kept for public homage.
