Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record to win gold in the javelin event, while India's Neeraj Chopra took home the silver. Nadeem's stunning throw of 92.97 meters at the Paris 2024 Olympics final on Thursday surpassed the previous Olympic record of 90.57 meters, set by Norway's Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra, the defending champion, began his Olympic final with a foul, crossing the line after his first throw. However, he quickly recovered, launching his second throw to an impressive 89.45 meters, securing the silver medal. His third attempt, however, fell short at 75 meters. Chopra's subsequent throws also saw challenges, including another foul when he stumbled over the line on his fourth throw and a fifth throw that resulted in a slip, marking his third foul of the night.

Arshad Nadeem, who had previously won silver at the 2023 World Championships and had a personal best of 90.18 meters from his gold-winning performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, secured his victory in Paris with a record-breaking second throw. He further solidified his lead with a strong third attempt, measuring 88.72 meters.
