Amid winter setting in and Diwali fast approaching, the state administration has issued elaborate guidelines to reduce pollution and insisted that only two hours of bursting green firecrackers will be permissible.
Special Secretary of Environment Department, Mahadev Kawre told media, “… This year, people are only allowed to burst green firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali, Chhath, Guru Purab, Christmas and New Year. For Diwali and Guru Purab, the time has been allotted from 8 pm to 10 pm. For Christmas and New Year, firecrackers can be bursted from 11.55 pm to 12.30 am”.
“For Chhath, the time allotted for bursting firecrackers is from 6 am to 8 am… In the big cities of Chhattisgarh like Raipur, Raigarh, Bilaspur etc, bursting of firecrackers are banned for 2 months from December 1 to January 31…”, he added.
