School students across India now may soon have a unique ID as the Union Ministry acts on the ”One Nation One Student ID” under the National Education Policy 2020.
Widely known as ‘One Nation One Student ID’, the official name for the planned system is ‘Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry’ and it aims to be a lifelong ID number for the students to track his/her academic record and achievements.
Education Ministry has directed all of the Union Territories and states to initiate the efforts in this direction. The scheme is ofcourse to be implemented and the students need to have consent of their parents.
The government has assured of data protection under the APAAR id card scheme and has said that Aadhaar ID will form the basis of this new scheme.
