On the Spot, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Announces Name Changes for 11 Villages in Shajapur District

Madhya Pradesh

Shajapur, January 13, 2025 – In a significant move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the renaming of 11 villages in Shajapur district.

The announcement was made during an event in the Kalapipal Tehsil, where the Chief Minister also highlighted several developmental initiatives and government schemes benefiting the residents.

During the event, CM Yadav revealed that under the state's "Ladli Behna Yojana," a total of 1.27 crore women beneficiaries had received a sum of ₹1,553 crore directly in their bank accounts.

He also informed the gathering that ₹335 crore had been transferred to the accounts of 55 lakh beneficiaries under the Social Security Pension Scheme.

Additionally, funds were transferred to 26 lakh women beneficiaries under the LPG Cylinder Refill Scheme.

Announcement of Village Name Changes

In a bold move, CM Yadav announced that the names of 11 villages in Shajapur would be changed to reflect Hindu cultural sentiments.

The villages, which were previously named after Muslim figures or symbols, will now have names that align with local traditions and beliefs.

The name changes include:

Nipaniya Hisamuddin will become Nipaniya Dev Dhaba

Hussainpur will become Dhaba Ram

Mohammadpur Pwdia will become Rampur Pwadia

Khajuri Allahdad will become Khajuri Ram

Hajipur will become Heerapur

Mohammadpur Machnai will become Mohanpur Rikhri

Muradabad will remain Rikhri

Khalilpur (Gram Panchayat Silonda) will become Rampur

Anchhod will become Unchawad Ghatti

Mukhtiyarpur will remain Ghatti Shekhpur

Bongi will become Awdhpur

The CM emphasized that the name changes were made in response to public demand and to reflect the sentiments of the local people, ensuring the names of villages align with their cultural identity.

Historical Shift in Village Identity

This mass renaming of villages marks a significant cultural shift in the region. Speaking about the changes, CM Yadav said, "If there is no Mohammad in Mohammadpur Machnai, then why should it remain Mohammadpur? Our culture has 33 crore deities, and the names can reflect any of them. We are only responding to the wishes of the people who felt that certain names no longer represented their values."

This decision comes shortly after CM Yadav's earlier announcement on January 5, 2025, regarding the renaming of three villages in Ujjain. The renamed villages included Gajnikhedi, now Chamunda Mahnagri, Maulana becoming Vikram Nagar, and Jahangirpur, which will now be called Jagdishpur.

Other Key Announcements

Along with the renaming of the villages, CM Yadav made several other significant announcements. He declared that the Kalapipal Tehsil would be upgraded to a revenue division, and the Polayakala Sub-Mandi would be promoted to a main mandi.
