After landing at Chennai International Airport, an Oman Airways flight's maintenance crew discovered damage to the outer layer of one of its tyres. The incident occurred on Saturday with 146 passengers onboard. The damage likely happened during landing. The flight from Muscat arrived at 5:30 PM, and once parked in the bay, routine checks revealed the tyre issue on the rear left side. However, there was no tyre burst.

Preliminary inspection showed damage to the tyre's tread, which is the outer layer designed to provide stability and traction during landings and takeoffs. Unlike car tyres, aircraft tyres have a sturdy tread to manage heat, maintain stability, and ensure safe operations on wet runways.

Following the inspection, the aircraft underwent additional maintenance checks and is awaiting a replacement tyre, which will be flown in from Mumbai, Delhi, or Muscat. As a result, the return flight was canceled, and passengers were accommodated in hotels across the city.
