National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is scheduled to travel to Moscow this week, from September 10 to 11, to engage in discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and to participate in the BRICS-NSA meeting. During his visit, Doval will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to address peace initiatives related to the Russia-Ukraine war, according to sources.

In addition to his discussions with President Putin, Doval will attend the BRICS-NSA meeting and hold bilateral talks with his Russian and Chinese counterparts. These meetings may build upon the dialogues from the July summit in Moscow. BRICS, an informal coalition of 10 nations, includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

The last BRICS-NSA meeting took place in Johannesburg in 2023, where Doval also represented India. His upcoming visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent travels to Russia and Ukraine. During a phone call with President Putin in late August, Modi briefed him on his visit to Kyiv and reiterated India's dedication to resolving the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

Modi's visit to Ukraine was marked by his emphasis on peace, asserting that "dialogue and diplomacy" are essential for ending the war. The Prime Minister's recent interactions with global leaders, including President Zelensky, highlight India's ongoing commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
