NIA raids several locations in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband, in 2023 blast case
National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in several locations in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district on Saturday in connection with the 2023 state assembly election IED blast case. The agency provided this information in a statement.
The blast was carried out by CPI (Maoist) activists on November 17, as a convoy of polling personnel and security forces was returning from the village of Badegobra after the voting.
According to the NIA's statement, a head constable from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Adhoc 615 Battalion was martyred in the attack. The NIA teams searched the premises of nine suspects in the remote, Maoist-affected area of Chhotegobra village, under the jurisdiction of the Mainpur police station.
Multiple Mobile Phones and Digital Devices Seized
The agency reported that several mobile phones and digital devices were seized during the operation. The NIA, which took over the investigation in March, has identified some supporters and aides of the banned CPI (Maoist) as suspects involved in assisting the organization in carrying out the attack.
