NIA conducted raids in the heavily Maoist-affected regions, know more
In connection with the Maoist shutdown on March 20, 2023, the NIA conducted raids in the heavily Maoist-affected regions of Abujhmad, including the villages of Orcha, Kasturmeta, Mandali, and Malkal. During these operations, four Maoists linked to the urban network were arrested.
The NIA's investigation has identified 35 Maoists, all of whom are currently being interrogated. These four arrested Maoists were reportedly involved in logistics and other support roles for the Maoist organization. The NIA has also accused Lakhma Koram, a leader of the "Maoist Save Platform" who has been on a prolonged sit-in protest in Orcha, of having Maoist affiliations.
According to the NIA's press release, the case involves 35 accused individuals. The banned organization's activists and supporters had obstructed the Narayanpur-Orcha main road near India Gate, using excavation, tree cutting, and placing stones to block the route. The blockade aimed to attack police forces and seize their weapons.
In the RC-09/2024/NIA/RPR case, the NIA investigation has revealed the names of some CPI (Maoist) supporters and OGWs. It is suspected that members of the "Maoist Save Platform," a prominent CPI (Maoist) group, assisted in carrying out the crime.
