New Year Brings Relief: LPG Cylinder Prices Reduced for Commercial Use

As 2025 begins, a piece of good news has arrived on the very first day. On January 1, 2025, oil and gas marketing companies announced a reduction in the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities.
The price cut ranges between ₹14-₹16, offering some relief to businesses. However, the prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged, continuing their stability from last year.
Revised Prices of 19 kg Commercial LPG Cylinders
According to updated prices on the IOCL website, the cost of a 19 kg LPG cylinder has decreased across several metropolitan cities:
Delhi: Reduced by ₹14.50, the new price is ₹1,804, down from ₹1,818.50 in December.
Kolkata: The price dropped by ₹16, now costing ₹1,911 compared to ₹1,927 previously.
Mumbai: Witnessing a reduction of ₹15, the cylinder now costs ₹1,756, down from ₹1,771.
Chennai: The price decreased by ₹14.50, making the cylinder available for ₹1,966, down from ₹1,980.50.
This reduction follows the price hike on December 1, 2024, when the rates of commercial cylinders saw a sharp increase. For example, in Delhi, the price of a 19 kg cylinder had risen from ₹1,802 in November to ₹1,818.50 in December.
Prices of Domestic LPG Cylinders Unchanged
While commercial LPG prices have seen fluctuations, the prices of 14 kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged since August 2024.
As of January 1, 2025, the prices are:
Delhi: ₹803
Kolkata: ₹829
Mumbai: ₹802.50
Chennai: ₹818.50
Impact on Consumers
The reduction in commercial LPG prices is expected to benefit businesses, especially in the hospitality and food sectors. However, households relying on domestic LPG cylinders will not see any changes in their expenses.
This price revision reflects ongoing adjustments in the oil and gas market, with companies aligning costs with global trends and domestic demand. While the relief for businesses is welcome, consumers continue to hope for similar reductions in domestic LPG prices in the near future.
