Naxalites Attack Police Camp in Bijapur, No Casualties Reported

Naxalites

Bijapur, Chhattisgarh – In a brazen attack early on Sunday morning, Naxalites launched an assault on the Gidpalli police base camp located in the Pamed police station area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. According to sources, the Naxalites opened fire suddenly, but there have been no reports of casualties or damage to personnel so far. There is speculation that the attack was orchestrated by Hidma, a senior leader of the Naxalite Central Committee.

Second Naxal Attack in Three Days

This attack marks the second Naxal assault in the Bastar region within the past three days. Senior police officials suggest that high-ranking Naxal leaders are now fleeing to safer locations to escape the increasing pressure from security forces. In a bid to divert attention and disrupt the forces, Naxalites are intensifying such attacks on police camps.

Earlier, on December 6, a joint team of the DRG (District Reserve Guard) and BSF (Border Security Force) clashed with Naxalites in the forests of Kurkundi in the Koyalibeda region of Kanker district. The gunfight, which lasted for about an hour, saw the security forces overpowering the Naxals, forcing them to retreat into the dense forest. Following the encounter, a search operation was conducted, leading to the recovery of several weapons, including a 12-bore gun, along with a large cache of Naxalite materials.

Authorities are on high alert as these coordinated attacks continue to pose a significant challenge to law enforcement in the Naxal-affected regions of Chhattisgarh.
