Movement of cash, valuables during election time, traders’ body wants SOP issued, writes to ECI

Amid election in five states, the Confederation of All India Traders has asked the Election Commission of India to issue a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the traders to be able to move about with cash unhindered.

CAIT National Secretary General, Praveen Khandelwal, pointed to the ECI how legitimate cash of the traders and businessmen is checked and withheld by police authorities amid elections ongoing.

CAIT official asked that a delegation could meet the ECI to streamline the procedures to enable the traders carry cash or other valuable items with necessary listed documents to then not be harassed by authorities.
