Monkey Scuffle Over Banana Disrupts Train Services at Bihar's Samastipur Station
An unusual incident unfolded at Bihar's Samastipur railway station on Monday morning when a fight between two monkeys over a banana led to a temporary disruption of train operations, leaving passengers both surprised and amused.
The Incident
The scuffle occurred near the eastern foot overbridge on the Barauni line. During the altercation, a piece of rubber slipped from one monkey’s grip and landed on the overhead electric wires, causing a short circuit that sent sparks flying.
Response and Impact
Upon being informed, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) alerted the control room, and the electrical supply to the overhead wires was immediately halted to prevent further damage or danger. This caused a temporary halt in train operations, affecting electrical supply on lines 4 through 14 for approximately 30 minutes.
The Overhead Equipment (OHE) department responded swiftly, repairing the wires and restoring electrical flow by 9:30 AM.
Management of the Situation
RPF Inspector Ved Prakash Verma, along with PK Chaudhary and their team, managed the situation on-site, ensuring passengers were kept at a safe distance from the affected area.
Official Statement
Inspector Verma confirmed that the disruption was caused by the fight between the monkeys, but the issue was resolved promptly. He assured passengers that normal train services had resumed without further incident.
A Lighthearted Moment Amidst Chaos
The incident, though disruptive, brought a moment of light-hearted amusement to the station as passengers observed the unexpected chaos caused by the monkeys’ antics. It serves as a reminder of the unpredictable challenges that can arise in daily railway operations.
