Men claiming to be ED officials, policeman visit jeweller's residence, to carry out raid, something went wrong
In Mathura, a high-profile ED raid at a jeweler's house unfolded in a film-like manner when impostors posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrived. The jeweler, Ashwani Agarwal, revealed that the people who entered his home claiming to be ED officers were fake and intended to rob him while holding him hostage.
On Friday, in the upscale Radha Orchid Colony of Govind Nagar in Mathura, a group of four—three men and one woman—arrived at Agarwal's house. One of the men was dressed in a police uniform. They presented themselves as ED officers, showing a search warrant and starting a search of the premises. However, their mistake exposed their true intentions.
Suspicious of the fake officials, Agarwal questioned one of them about which police station they were from. The answer was that they were from the Govindpuram police station, which did not exist as Mathura only has a Govind Nagar police station. Realizing something was amiss, Agarwal discreetly ran outside and alerted neighbors, including Mayor Vinod Agarwal. As the crowd gathered, the fake officials fled the scene, leaving in a vehicle.
Agarwal confirmed that the search warrant shown by the impostors was fraudulent. When verified by a real ED officer, the document was deemed fake, and it was confirmed that no ED team was sent to the location. The Enforcement Directorate has contacted Mathura police about the incident.
The police, including the SSP, arrived at the scene and are now investigating the case. They have obtained CCTV footage of the impostors and their vehicle and are actively searching for them.
