Massive whale shark gets trapped in fishing net, transported using crane, watch

In Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, local fishermen captured a massive whale shark weighing approximately 1,500 kilograms in their net. The giant fish was transported to the Gollapalli port with the help of a crane. The whale shark, a species known for its large size and slow movement, was promptly purchased by traders from Chennai.
The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is an endangered species renowned for its enormous size and slow swimming pace. International Whale Shark Day is observed worldwide on August 30 each year to raise awareness about this species. Whale sharks are filter-feeding fish that dwell in open ocean waters. The warm waters off the coast of Gujarat, India, are favorable for them, making it a significant breeding ground.
