Maruti Suzuki announces price reduction, for two models, amid inventory issues
Maruti Suzuki has announced a price reduction for two of its models, the S-Presso LXI Petrol and the Alto K10 VXI Petrol, in response to inventory issues and declining sales in the automobile sector. Effective immediately, the price of the S-Presso LXI Petrol has been lowered by Rs 2,000, bringing it down from Rs 5.01 lakh to Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Alto K10 VXI Petrol has seen a price drop of Rs 6,500, with its range now starting from Rs 3.99 lakh and going up to Rs 5.96 lakh.
This price adjustment comes amid a reported 3.9% drop in Maruti Suzuki's total vehicle sales for August 2024, which fell to 181,782 units compared to 189,082 units in August 2023.
Domestic sales contributed 145,570 units, while 26,003 units were exported. The decrease is attributed to a notable decline in the mini and compact vehicle segments, where sales fell from 84,660 units in August 2023 to 68,699 units this year. Additionally, domestic passenger vehicle sales also declined, with Maruti Suzuki selling 143,075 units compared to 156,114 units in August 2023.
