Marine Drive be named Telibandha, Sahu community demands from CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai attended the Hareli festival hosted by Sahu community at Marine Drive, Telibandha, on the sacred occasion of Hareli Tihar. During the event, he performed worship of agricultural tools like Nagar, Gaiti, and Gedi, and prayed for the prosperity of the farmers. The Chief Minister also paid floral tributes and performed Aarti at the oil painting of Bhakt Mata Karma, wishing for Chhattisgarh's prosperity.

The event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, Raipur Rural MLA Motilal Sahu, Kasdol MLA Sandeep Sahu, former Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu, as well as Sahu Community President Talh Singh Sahu and other officials.

During the program, the Sahu community demanded that Marine Drive be renamed Telibandha Drive, with grand gates built on both sides and a square named after Bhakt Mata Karma. Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated and wished the Sahu community well for the event. He expressed that on the auspicious occasion of Hareli, he has prayed for the well-being of Chhattisgarh’s residents. He acknowledged that Telibandha Lake is a pride of Raipur city and assured that the demand for renaming would be considered seriously and appropriate action would be taken. The Chief Minister was presented with an oil painting of Lord Ram and a copy of the Ram Charit Manas by the Sahu community leaders. At the end of the event, he was gifted a Rudraksha tree and a shawl along with a fruit as a memento.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao remarked that Harela is the first festival of Chhattisgarh and marks the beginning of a series of festivals in the state. He congratulated everyone on Hareli and described it as a festival of rich tradition, celebrating farmers and nature. He extended his best wishes to all residents for this holy festival.

Union Minister Tokhan Sahu described Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai as a guest of the Sahu community and noted that the tradition of celebrating Hareli with devotion was established by their elders. He emphasized that Harela is a festival for agriculture, cattle, and preserving nature, and called upon the community to impart the festival's significance to future generations. Tokhan Sahu also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointing a Sahu community member as a central minister for the first time. Raipur District Sahu Community honored Tokhan Sahu with a Rudraksha tree.

The event featured performances of songs and dance by participants from the Sahu community. They organized Gedi races and matka-fod competitions. The performance of Shiv Tandav dance by twin sisters Pramila and Parvati captivated everyone.
