Mani Shankar Aiyar, other prominent opposition leaders visit Palestinian embassy, reiterate ‘Palestine belongs to Arabs’

Amid the raging war between Israel and Hamas in West Asia, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar as well as few other opposition party political figures visited the Embassy of the state of Palestine, on Tuesday to meet Adnan Abu al Haija, Ambassador of Palestine in India.

They essentially batted for establishment of a Palestinian state and called for intensified diplomatic efforts and multilateral initiatives for lasting peace in the region.

JDU Leader KC Tyagi, after the meeting, told media, “We met with the Ambassador of Palestine in India and discussed several things… We condemned the violence going on in Gaza… As per the UN resolution, peace should be established there. We condemn the present action by Israel. Violence is never a solution for anything… He (Ambassador of Palestine in India) explained to us about the situation there…”.

It is interesting to note that Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with Israeli people for the terror attack they faced on Oct 7.

But the Government of India later clarified that it is still of the view that two state solution must be given a chance.
