Man Arrested for Hoax Threats of Bomb Blasts and Attack on PM Modi: Mumbai Police
The Mumbai Police have arrested a man from Ajmer, Rajasthan, for sending a hoax message threatening bomb blasts in Dhanbad and Mumbai, as well as an attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The accused, identified as Mirza Mohammad Beg (36), is a resident of Jharkhand and was apprehended following an extensive investigation.
The Threat and Investigation
The threat message was sent on Saturday to the WhatsApp helpline of Mumbai Police's Traffic Division. In it, the accused warned of imminent blasts in Mumbai and Dhanbad and spoke of an attack on the Prime Minister. The message also included claims about two individuals allegedly associated with ISI planning the attacks.
The police promptly initiated an investigation, during which it was discovered that Beg had sent similar hoax messages to police in other states.Tracing his location, the Mumbai Police team tracked him to Ajmer.
Background of the Accused
Beg, who previously worked for a private company in Gujarat, reportedly sent the threatening messages out of frustration after being fired from his job. According to officials, he was terminated for reporting to work in an inebriated state.
Arrest and Legal Action
The accused was arrested in Ajmer and has been brought to Mumbai on transit remand for further questioning. A case has been registered against him under Section 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
