Major Action Against Naxals in Bijapur: 19 Maoists Arrested in Two Days
In a significant crackdown on Naxalites, security forces in Bijapur have arrested a total of 19 Maoists in the past 48 hours. The operation, which began on Friday, saw the arrest of 13 Naxals, followed by the detention of 6 more on Saturday. This success has given a morale boost to the forces, who have intensified their search operations in the region.
Details of the Naxal Operation and Arrests
The arrests took place during a series of Naxal operations conducted by security forces. On Saturday, 6 Maoists were apprehended as part of a special operation involving the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 196th Battalion. The CRPF's Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) was also actively involved, alongside local police units. The arrested Naxals were detained from the borders of the Galgam, Nadpalli, and Footapalli forest areas in Bijapur.
The Bijapur police have confirmed that all the arrested individuals are members of the Janmilitia, a Maoist armed wing. During the operation, a significant amount of Naxal material, including Maoist literature, was seized.
Arrested Maoists and Their Background
The Bijapur police provided details about the arrested individuals, highlighting their involvement in local Maoist activities. On Friday, 13 Naxals were arrested in three different areas: Tarrem, Awapalli, and Jangla. Out of these, three were apprehended in Tarrem, while five each were arrested in Awapalli and Jangla. Among the arrested was a notorious Naxal, Kosha Punem alias Hadma, who had a reward of Rs. 2 lakh on his head.
The arrest of these individuals is part of a larger area domination strategy by the forces, which has been gaining momentum. The continuous success of the operation over the past two days has significantly boosted the morale of the security forces in Bijapur, and they are expected to intensify their efforts further.
Increased Security Measures and Investigations
In light of these recent developments, Bijapur police have confirmed that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the Naxal network operating in the region. The local police have also ramped up their security measures, with additional search operations planned across vulnerable areas. The forces are also focused on dismantling the local Naxal infrastructure that has been operating in these forested areas for years.
With this major breakthrough, the security forces in Bijapur are poised to continue their drive against Naxalism, which has plagued several districts in Chhattisgarh for decades. The successful arrests demonstrate not only the commitment of the forces but also their growing capacity to counter Naxal activities in these remote regions.
The two-day operation in Bijapur represents a significant step forward in the ongoing battle against Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh. The arrest of 19 Naxals, including a high-profile insurgent with a reward on his head, highlights the intensified efforts of security forces to restore peace and security in the region. With continued operations and further investigations, the security forces are aiming to dismantle the Naxal stronghold and ensure stability in the state.
